Enrolling for Coverage

Enrolling Yourself and Your Eligible Dependents

Special Enrollment Opportunities

If you elect “No Coverage” for yourself and/or your eligible dependents because you or they have other coverage, you may, in the future, be able to enroll yourself and/or your eligible dependents in the Program. To do so, notify the eligibility administrator within 30 days after your other coverage ends.

Or, if you and/or your eligible dependents had coverage under another group health plan at the point when you declined coverage for yourself and/or your eligible dependents under the Program, then you and/or your eligible dependents may enroll within 30 days of losing such coverage if:

It is COBRA continuation coverage under another plan that is exhausted; or

It is not COBRA continuation coverage that is lost, and the loss of coverage is due solely to a loss of eligibility, a termination of contributions, or a loss of coverage by its sponsor.

For special enrollment purposes, loss of eligibility for coverage does not include loss due to a failure to pay premiums or termination of coverage for reason of bad conduct.

In addition, if you elect “No Coverage” and later gain a new eligible dependent as a result of marriage, birth, adoption, or placement for adoption, you may enroll yourself and/or your eligible dependents as long as you notify the eligibility administrator within 30 days after the marriage, birth, adoption, or placement for adoption.
