Your Rights and Responsibilities Special Extensions of Coverage Your Legal Right to Continuation Coverage Under COBRA Coordinating Benefits With Other Programs Situations Affecting Your Benefits |
Coordinating Benefits With Other ProgramsGeneral InformationThe Program has a coordination of benefits (COB) provision which coordinates benefit payments from all of your and your covered eligible dependents’ coverages. For example, if your spouse also has coverage through his or her employment, the COB provision coordinates payments from the Program and your spouse’s plan. This provision is intended to prevent duplicate payments for the same covered expenses. Coordination of benefits takes into account benefits available for the same expenses under another employer plan, a government program, school insurance (except those offered through the high school level), or benefits required by law, such as no-fault automobile insurance benefits. It does not apply to Medicaid or individual medical policies. Coordination of benefits will be coordinated by the claims administrator. |
