Situations Affecting Your BenefitsRight to Reimbursement, Assignment of Rights, and Duty to NotifyAs a condition to receiving Group Benefits Plan benefits, each participant, former participant, or other person who has an interest in the Group Benefits Plan (“Recipient”) shall provide the Group Benefits Plan with a Right to Reimbursement and an Assignment of Rights (as both are described below). These rights enable the Group Benefits Plan to recover the amount it has expended to provide benefits to the Recipient from any proceeds the Recipient receives from a third party in connection with an illness, accident, or injury. The Group Benefits Plan’s rights to recover are reduced by its share of the attorneys’ fees incurred in obtaining the proceeds from the third party. |
