How the Retiree Group Health Program Works
Retiree Group Health Program Design – Medical Programs
Emergency Care
Regardless of which Medical Program you elect, in a true medical emergency:
 | You or your spouse/domestic partner can go to any emergency facility or hospital, even one that is not participating in the CIGNA HealthCare network. You or your spouse/domestic partner does not need authorization for emergency care.
|
 | If you or your spouse/domestic partner goes to a hospital or a facility that does not contract with CIGNA HealthCare, you may have to pay the full cost of the emergency care, then file a claim for reimbursement.
|
 | Call the claims administrator at the phone number listed on your medical ID card if you or your spouse/domestic partner has questions about submitting your claim.
|
 | If you or your spouse/domestic partner receives emergency care at an out-of-network facility (applicable for the CIGNA Open Access Plus option) and the Medical Program does not consider your condition to be a true emergency, you may be responsible for additional costs associated with your claim. |
