Retiree Medical, Prescription Drug and Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs - RR Donnelley Coordinating Benefits With Other ProgramsMedicareMedicare is a federal program available to individuals who are age 65 or older, as well as some people under age 65 with certain disabilities and people of all ages with end-stage renal disease. Your medical benefits under the Program are coordinated with Medicare as explained in the previous section. If you are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B, then Medicare is your primary health care plan. This means that all of your health care claims are first submitted to Medicare for payment. The Program is your secondary health care plan. If Medicare (which is your primary health plan and is thus submitted first) pays more of your claim than the Program would have paid, there is no payment from the Program. You will still owe the remaining amount. The amount the Program would have paid counts toward both the Program and your Medicare deductible. Medicare does not allow coverage for services rendered outside of the United States. |
